Pollock vandalism update

In his July 28th Weekly Newsletter, the City Manager informed the council that an anonymous donor came forward and donated $2,000 to the Parks Department to pay for the clean up of last week's vandalism to the water park. I think Mr. Wollangk said it best: "[the donation] reminds us of the fantastic community in which we live when our citizens are willing to step forward to help the city. I know I speak for all of us when I offer our heartfelt thanks to the individual/individuals who made this very generous donation."

I echo Mr. Wollangk's words and wish to extend my gratitude and appreciation to the anonymous donor for the generous donation.

Mr. Wollangk also stated that, as of last Monday, there have been over 43,000 visitors to the water park, and he has been told that "the concession stand is doing very well in revenues so far." This is also very good news!

  • Is seperate accounting being done on the pool so the public will be able to see how well the pool is doing financially. This is not a criticism of the pool, merely wondering if the public will ever know how much it costs them to operate.

  • Anonymous-
I think so, and believe there should be, since there was a water park section in the 2006 operating budget (p. 298-301). I'll double check with Tom Stephany.

  • I just received the following information from City Manager Richard Wollangk regarding the water park:

"The answer to your question is yes, the Waterpark is a separate budget and all revenues and expenditures will and are being tracked separately so that we will be able to tell at year end what was collected and what was spent."
