  • I watched it once that was enough to make me sick.
NOT 1 candidate is willing to look at the following:
"The Oshkosh Convention Center currently has $2.4 million of remaining debt, but the bonds were structured in a way that prevents early repayment, ...........
Although the convention center debt cannot be paid off early, funds from the increased room tax could be used for other purposes."

Other purposes? Possible renovation of the Convention Center?
Sounds like we're creating a tax without a sound plan.
Sounds like we want to tax our visitors for apples, then use the funds for oranges, or plums, or maybe pineapples, or whatever fruity tourism thingy-thing presented.
That's not very fiscally responsible. The city doesn't even know what it's going to do with the Convention Center. It's still tied to the sale of the Plaza hotel, isn't it?
"GREED" will be the downfall of Oshkosh.
Define the purpose, uses and limitations for the tax increase before you impose it and make us the highest room tax rate in the state.

Here once again the city of Oshkosh fails to maintain a structure covered in debt. Here once agian the city will ask for someone else to pay for their negligence.

If the increase in room tax is approved it should only go for the renovation of the Convention Center. NOT for someone else pet project!
