State of the City and Country USA

Last night, City Manager Richard Wollangk delivered the first State of the City address. This was part of his 2007 goals prepared for him by the Common Council. His presentation is available on the city's website.

I received a couple of phone calls and emails complaining about the noise from Country USA. I've spoken with the City Manager about it. He said that since the grounds are in the Town of Nekimi, the facility falls under Winnebago County Zoning Ordinances. I encourage residents who had issues with the event to contact their County Board Supervisor.

  • I am very upset that Country USA has moved into our backyard. The shooting was wrong, but I do understand their frustrations. The music is so extremely loud, the bass radiates through our entire house and we don't even live as close as the "shooters" do. I wish that somebody would have considered the people around them when they moved this festival. We were here first and would have never moved to our subdivision if we knew that they were going to be so close. I feel as though this devalues our home, who wants to live next a place that produces so much noise that you can't even sleep at night (the music didn't stop unti 2:30am one morning). Is anyone else fed up? What can we do about this?

  • Good Luck in getting anyone in authority to listen your problems.
You will be in the minority and no one will listen.

If it makes money for Oshkosh or the surrounding area complaints will fall on deaf ears.

Examples: With city noise ordinances and complaints from neighbors around the Leach or Titan stadium; Noisey loud activities go on against codes and regardless of complaints.
If its in name of money for the city/county its will go on.
I do offer you my sympathies.

  • Agree with previous comment. The City and County priority is money. Many ordinances are violated. It all too often depends on who you are. Wealthy slumlords are a perfect example of "having their way" with the City.
